Reading Wordpress blogs in the Wordpress app

Why is it that the Wordpress sites' links posted on Twitter/Facebook or on other websites, when accessed from a mobile device that has a Wordpress app installed, don't open in the Wordpress app?
If you have installed the Guardian app on your mobile phone and click a Guardian link on Twitter/FB, you are automatically taken to the app and read the content on the app.
Why can't that happen in the Wp app as well? Or, am I missing something?
