User role for WordPress app??

Hi, I have a blog (streetfiends.wordpress.com) and I am the main administrator. I have two writers who have been set as "contributors". One of which has downloaded the WordPress app on his phone, but it tells him to check his user role for the blog, or something along those lines. Can contributor still write and submit their articles using the app? Are we overlooking something? Thanks so much for the help!

The app works best with 'Administrator' or 'Editor' roles.
