Geo location data is not saving when using Android app

Seems this issue has been posted a couple times but no clear resolution - I'm using a Google Nexus S and I'm not able to get the location data to save. The geotag option is enabled in the blog settings, and the location is detected when editing a post, but saving the post does not update the location (no postmeta entries are created, and if the post already has an existing address using the Geolocation plugin it is not updated).
Often when adding a post with just GPS location detection enabled in the phone settings, the location is not loaded (it just stays on 'Loading...' and View Map says to wait, though it does not appear to even be trying as the GPS icon does not appear in the phone's status bar).
Is there some kind of trick to get the geo data saved, whether it be phone or Wordpress blog settings? Everything works great on the iPhone Wordpress app. We've got a meeting in the next couple days where we're demoing something with the location data and demo'ing by adding it using the Android Wordpress app, so any help asap would be greatly appreciated!
