Embed video without needing special software?
-
Don't know where I should post this, but I'm hoping that someone here has found a solution to this already...
Is there by any means any possibility to (by a plug-in I guess) get the 3gp-videos without having to have Quicktime installed on the computers viewing the site? Like they would automatically be viewed trough a flash player?

Maybe HTML 5 video tag?

Too few browsers supports that as of yet :(
As it stands right now I don't want to publish videos from my phone as users either gets a blank screen or a request to install quicktime which isn't very nice towards the users :( -
Oh, and if there is no way around this, I suggest that information is provided to the users about this. It took quite some time to me to figure out why videos wasn't showing and thought that it was the fault of the application.

Of course, there's VideoPress as an option as well. I think most users have quicktime installed though?

No, it's not an option since it's a self hosted site. And no, most PC users does not have quicktime installed if they don't have an iPod, since it's a really bad piece of software in all ways imagined.
I know that there really can't be anything done about the fact that android normally records in 3GP, but like I wrote, it would be really good too inform the users if there is any "flash-wrap-plugin" available or atleast that the function requires all visitors that they require quicktime and might get a prompt to download it.
