Dashboard unavailable "Web page not available"
-
Using:
Android (Gingerbread) ver. 2.3.6
WordPress (for Android) ver. 2.0.3
WordPress self hosted ver. 3.3.1All self hosted sites configured on WordPress for Android work perfectly. 3 sites do not.
The ONLY issue is with the icon for "Dashboard". When clicking it for those 3 sites, I get the following error:
Web page not available The web page at data:text/html;UTF-8,%3Chead%3E3Cscript%20type=%22text/javascript%22%3Efunction%20submitform(){document.loginform.submit(),%20%3C/......and so on
I have completed the following to no avail:
- Removed (deleted) all plugins and themes (only activate Twenty Eleven 1.3 and Twenty Ten 1.3).
Does not fix issue. - Completely delete and reinstall blog.
Does not fix issue. - Tested blog admin area (dashboard) in several desktop browsers as working with no issue.
Works (including dashboard) in all desktop browsers tested. - Completely remove WordPress for Android, reinstall and reconfigure (very arduous, given the number of blogs to add). Side note: It would be really to have an export and import feature for the blogs added to it.
Does not fix issue. - Cleared the cache on the default Android browser.
Does not fix issue. - Use default Android browser and Firefox (for Android), to manually log in and access Dashboard of wp-admin - success.
- Tried on Wifi connection.
Does not resolve issue.
Again, the only issue therefore (so it appears) is with version 2.0.3 of Android for WordPress. (That being clicking the Dashboard icon throws the above mentioned error).
This only effects the Dashboard, all other features work without issue.
Can anyone please point me towards a fix.

Is this bug related to this issue?

I'm wondering if it's your login lockdown plugin? You disabled that one as well?
-
Thanks mrroundhill
I looked at that and did have it disabled. No change.
(All other installs have it active, and am able to connect, and access Dashboard).
I really think this is a bug?
-
I could be a bug, yeah. Especially since you were able to sign in from the regular Android browser. Is this for rogerwheatly.com? Would you ming creating a low level access account like an author for me to test with there?

@mrroundhill
Sure, where do I send the login credentials? (I don't see any PM here) -
@mrroundhill
This site is under construction (brand new install, showing same symptom), but I deactivated the coming soon plugin. Please MAKE SURE you change the profile password, email, etc. to your needs.wpbloghelp.com
usr = mrroundhill
pwd = pBc2n6xg+-^yI have backed up the DB and files, so can restore.

Thanks, I'm in. I changed the password.

@Roger, it worked fine for me with that login on a nexus one running 2.3.6. So it's either your device or WP account I'm guessing?
-
Hmm... Nexus S using same version (2.3.6). Other accounts all okay, let me create another account and try... (Will report back).

Fixed!!!
I'm really glad you helped! Thanks very much.
I followed up on your suggestion that it might be something wrong with the account. Here's what I found out:
All accounts that had problems accessing the Dashboard only (add post/pages, etc. worked no problem - ONLY Dashboard was the issue)... All had a % symbol in the password.
Resetting the password not to use the % special character solves the issue! Now Dashboard is accessible. This does NOT effect Android web browser or desktop web browser. It only effects WordPress for Android.
Again, thanks muchly for your help, it pointed me to the fix!
Cheers!

Cool! We'll probably need to escape a few characters to avoid that issue. So, thanks for helping out there as well :)
