I was really excited when I came across WP for Android. I have staff making Draft posts in my site, which I then want to review, change and schedule for future publishing. Doing this on my phone would be awesome.

But I can't work out how to schedule a post. Even if I change the date on the post, and then press publish, it publishes immediately. There is no option to Schedule.

I've tried changing the date and saving as a Draft first, before going back in and changing it to Publish. But something keeps changing the date back to today's date.

I've tried changing the date within the post and then selecting Published, and pressing Publish, and it publishes immediately.

I am sure I am missing something here. Can anyone help me schedule a post?

Thanks

Hi to all developers. Great job and I love Wordpress for Android, I use it almost every day to add new posts to my blog. It's great to be able to write a new post offline and then publish it to the blog when done. It would also be nice to be able to edit existing posts offline: I would load the posts when at home using my Wifi, edit the post during the day and the send it back and the end of the day, again using my Wifi. Just something simple, no synching, you load locally to phone, edit and then overwrite when sendig back to the blog.

Maybee this function already exists and I haven't foud it?

Thanks and continue the good work!

I've been scouring this forum and the web for some assistance. I'm traveling through South America with an Asus Eee Pad Transformer and have been trying mercilessly the past two days to update the blog my partner and I are using to stay in touch with friends and family!!
We uploaded a post three days ago successfully with the app. However, yesterday the app began acting buggy - we couldn't insert photos, we would put them in from the gallery, but then they wouldn't show up - the code would simply be "img from android device" or something, not the actual image link.
We thought it might be the internet connection as it's pretty intermittent down here, but found a stronger signal to use, still to no avail.
So, we thought we'd just give up on the photos and publish what we had. But now, everytime we try to publish, it force closes. When we even open the app, it takes a couple minutes for the menu to open, and same when we try to access the post section. We even tried saving it as a draft, yet still force close!
Let's not even begin to talk about trying to update within ANY of the browsers - none let me insert the pictures i've uploaded!! Stock browser, opera mini, dolphin, skyfire - tried them all.
We tried the app and test drove the transformer for awhile before we chose it as our main device to carry with us, but now we're beginning to regret the decision... I have installed the update (twice) and restarted, then restarted again the tablet. To be honest, it's actually worse with the update.
Any assistance would be more than appreciated as we love wordpress and don't want to have to switch to another blogging platform!!
Thank you so much.

Hi!

I've my own installation of wordpress, and when I try to upload images (5mpix) via the android wordpress application it says "an error occurred when uploading media". It works fine when I upload the same image from the web interface, but not from the application. Even tried 16 mpix images via web without breaking sweat.
.htaccess says:
php_value post_max_size 20M

Something must be very wrong with the mobile feature "upload and link to full size image" since it works fine to upload images when you turn that feature off.

The issue appears to be in the android browsers interpretation of the blog page.

The same thing happens if i copy text, hide keyboard, paste text into content field (which is still on a whole screen) and click back button to get to Send button. Text will disappear.
The only way i found to manage it is writing text, copying it, going back to beginning of the post process, pasting text into content field and sending it. It works, but this is not a solution....

Hi guys,

This question is originally posted in the "Troubleshooting" forum, but it is actually not a trouble, but a simple question. So I post it again here, hope it is fine :P

So this question is for the developers of WordPress Android.

It is a simple question about the "uuid" used in the uploadStats() method in "wpAndroid.java".
By reading the code for the Android version of WordPress, I noticed that in the Android version, this "uuid" is just a unique ID that randomly generated and stored as the first record in WordPress’s own SQLite database on the Android device.
However, in the code of the iPhone version of WordPress, the uuid used in the same method is actually the device's uuid.

So my question is, when writing the code for WordPress Android, why the "uuid" does not use the device uuid? (I mean it can just be easily obtained by calling TelephonyManager.getDeviceId(), right?)

Is this because calling TelephonyManager.getDeviceId() will trigger the "android.permission.READ_PHONE_STATE" permission checking?
I mean, is it because WordPress for Android is actually trying to avoid such additional permission request when writing the code? Is it the reason why it is using a random-generated uuid instead of the real device id (such as on iPhone's version of WordPress)?

Appreciate if the original developer of that wpAndroid class could answer my question or just confirm my guessing :)

Regards,
- Jin

Hi there,

I posted this query originally over at the wordpress.com support forums (http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/calendar-not-fully-visible-on-iphone?replies=3) and they recommended I come over here to ask.

A user of our site has reported that he is unable to view the calendar properly on his iPhone (see page: http://powerbikersbocholt.be/kalender/). This happens with Android phones as well. The phone cuts off the last three days of the week, and the calendar does not respond when he attempts to 'drag' those days into view. It is a Google calendar and we have it both inserted into the 'rittenkalender' page, and also on the sidebar so it is visible throughout the site.

Is this something I can resolve myself, or is it related to the phone itself?

Thanks!

I have installed the WordPress app on my mobile so that I could do some editing and creating whilst on my mobile, basically when I'm not well enough to use my laptop...

I logged into my WordPress site on my mobile, and succeeded in posting to the site yesterday.

However, I cannot connect to the dashboard via the mobile? Everytime I press on the "dashboard" link, it looks like it's loading up, but then it kicks me back to the log in screen and removes the password. It doesn't say that the password is incorrect, it doesn't come back with ANY error?

Considering my install of wordpress to my server has had NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS, am I to guess that the problem is with my server rather than the app?

I can't give you a link or show you the problem because I posted about my wordpress problem on the wordpress support board and I was told to delete the wp-admin and wp-includes folders. I did this, then found that my server will NOT let me upload the folders from the fresh WP download using filezilla.

I got annoyed and totally erased my entire public_html/forum directories, and I'm now TRYING to upload the backup that I made yesterday (thankfully!)

Once I have restored everything, and everything the server end is working again, I will retry with the app and see how I get on.

I even tried the new version Beta 2 of the Wordpress app and it posts the same error (although in a much better interface!). The error occurs both with attachments and text posts. The strangest thing is that the posts get uploaded in any case, if I go to the blog I see the post, and if I refresh in the app I get the post both in the blog list and posted as a local draft. Seems the handshake to confirm upload success is missing.

Sometimes I get an added error of which I cannot understand. All categories on Wordpress gets reset to Unknown and I get an error in the app when I try to refresh categories. I have nailed the fix for this, and it is basically to restart the mysql server.

Just to note, I tried disabling all plugins to eliminate, and the error still happens. So now I am more or less stuck!

If a draft has a future date it is listed as "Scheduled" on the list of posts. This is confusing because I often start drafts that I future-date because I know they'll go live much later. At this point I can't tell the difference between a Draft and a Published item. They all say "Scheduled."

Apologies for reposting but my last post title was misleading (couldn't find a way of deleting).

I can't seem to upload images to self hosted multisite blogs - the app works fine for single site WP installs. Text posts work fine - I can select an image from my phone and see a thumbnail in my post but when I publish there is text but no image.

There are no error messages to indicate that anything is wrong and the images do not exceed the file size upload limits set in network admin. This holds true whether I try via 3G or wifi.

When I try and create a post via 3G, if I try to embed a photo or image from my phone it does not appear.

Would the problem lie with my carrier, phone or hosting set up (or is this a bug with the app)?

I have posted images when connected to wifi without any trouble (though I haven't tried this since the app had the last major update)

Using:

Android (Gingerbread) ver. 2.3.6
WordPress (for Android) ver. 2.0.3
WordPress self hosted ver. 3.3.1

All self hosted sites configured on WordPress for Android work perfectly. 3 sites do not.

The ONLY issue is with the icon for "Dashboard". When clicking it for those 3 sites, I get the following error:

Web page not available

The web page at data:text/html;UTF-8,%3Chead%3E3Cscript%20type=%22text/javascript%22%3Efunction%20submitform(){document.loginform.submit(),%20%3C/...

...and so on

I have completed the following to no avail:

Removed (deleted) all plugins and themes (only activate Twenty Eleven 1.3 and Twenty Ten 1.3).
Does not fix issue.

Completely delete and reinstall blog.
Does not fix issue.

Tested blog admin area (dashboard) in several desktop browsers as working with no issue.
Works (including dashboard) in all desktop browsers tested.

Completely remove WordPress for Android, reinstall and reconfigure (very arduous, given the number of blogs to add). Side note: It would be really to have an export and import feature for the blogs added to it.
Does not fix issue.

Cleared the cache on the default Android browser.
Does not fix issue.

Use default Android browser and Firefox (for Android), to manually log in and access Dashboard of wp-admin - success.

Tried on Wifi connection.
Does not resolve issue.

Again, the only issue therefore (so it appears) is with version 2.0.3 of Android for WordPress. (That being clicking the Dashboard icon throws the above mentioned error).

This only effects the Dashboard, all other features work without issue.

Can anyone please point me towards a fix.

I use a Samsung Galaxy tab 10.1 running Android. I attempt to use the browser to post to my WordPress site but I can't "insert" photos are there are other tasks I cannot do as well.

Should i be hoping that this will be solved and I'll be able to use the Android browser to post within WordPress, or should I be looking at the WordPress applications that run on Android?

it's a bit confusing to me now, it seems making Wordpress work within the Android browser would be easier than creating a whole new app for it, but I am a total noob when it comes to WordPress and Android. thanks

Hello,

I've been told that the reason that my WP feed is not displaying properly on Android mobile phones is because of <dc:creator>xxxxxxxxxx </dc:creator>. Apparently, this is preventing the title of each article to show the xxxxxxx title instead of the summary title of the article.

Example:
This is what is currently display on Androids:
News
>Campus News & Events
xxxxxxxxxxxx (dc:creator)
Jan. 12, 2011 5d 12h 38m ago

This is what should display
News
>Campus News & Events
Nursing Graduation
Jan. 12, 2011 5d 12h 38m ago

Is there a way to change the <dc:creator>? I'm using WP.com.

Hopefully, this makes sense...we using Datatel MOX.

Thanks,

So I'm completely new to WordPress. I setup my site on my PC at WordPress.com and everything works great from there. On the android app tho its a different story. I can log in fine and see all my pages and posts, but when I go to edit a page, regardless of text, media, or a combination it always errors uploading with the following error code:

Page Upload Failed: XMLRPC Fault: Invalid Post ID. [Code 404]

I've searched and can't find anything anywhere.

It wouldn't be a huge deal, but I can't edit in the browser, doesn't recognize the text area as typable.
