Amazon says they are working on a fix for this. In the meantime, there's a workaround to add images to a new post by sharing them to the app from the gallery:

• Open the gallery app and select the images you want to add to a post.
• Tap the 'Share' button, and then tap on WordPress
• The images will be added to the post and you can go from there!
