Currently I working on an my first app (besides Hello World) for a club that I am in on campus.
Originally I was going to display a window of the twitter feed from the app- but after talking to the President, she uses Facebook more.
I want to display the news feed of a closed group in a small window- but I have been lead to believe that I would need to make an app on Facebook.
My current "solution" would be to link up the group with Wordpress and again will be displayed in a "window" in the screen.
I am using Eclipse ( since netbeans lacks a gui editor)
I am new to developing and coding. I was able to find a tutorial that both walked me through and explained what I was doing...help would be appreciated.

When I create a post using the New Post Button in the opening window of the Android app the post will publish to my site but the post does not publish through to Facebook.

When I create a post using the dashboard in the Android app, the post will publish to my site AND Facebook. It appears to be the same as if I were creating the post via the dashboard with my laptop browser. These post will go on through to my Facebook page. But any post created using the New Post Button will not publish through to Facebook.

I would like to be able to create a post using the New Post Button and have that post publish to Facebook as well as my site.

I'm using the Simple Facebook Connect plug-in.

I'm stumped! If anyone has a suggestion, it would be greatly appreciated!

Yup, I use it all the time. Sometimes I have to upload a post as a draft first, then change it to publish and save it again so that publicize will pick up the picture and put it in the facebook post. Otherwise the picture wouldn't show up on fb.

Well, I answered my own question. 8^D it does indeed work with the Android app. I did another quick photo type post and it showed up in my social streams shortly afterward. I think the problem I was having was that I recently swapped over to the "timeline" format for my homepage and it didn't show up there, but my wife pointed out the post in her news feed. I checked over on Twitter and I saw the link there as well.

It makes sense that things should function like so, I'm guessing the trigger to publicize a post sits on the servers themselves, and not with the application, so once you get publicize up and functional, you can post from anywhere to your blog and it will get out to your streams.

I was told I could ask this question here instead of the general support forums...

I recently upgraded to the Android 2.0 app and LOVE it! Well done!

I used the app to do a "quick photo" type post to my blog, where I had the publicize features recently enabled and verified. However, the blog entry I added was not shared to Facebook/Twitter.

I went in a little while later through the web site (on my computer) and added another post, and the publicize feature worked just fine.

Does anybody know if the publicize feature will work through the Android app? If not, that would be a great feature to add.

Yes, we're working on fixing that on the WordPress.com side. Here's a pro tip to get it to work though: Change the status of the post to 'Draft' first when uploading from the app. Once that is uploaded, change it to 'publish' and then save it again, which should post it to fb with the image there.

You're better off adding a plugin to the WP installation itself. I have a Twitter plugin (Twitter Tools by Alex King) that once a blog entry is posted (no matter what the source) it sends out a tweet (which in turn fires off to Facebook through a Facebook Twitter app). No need to duplicate this functionality in the Android code-set.

I noticed on my HTC Droid incredible many apps offer the ability to share my websites or other media through various sources like Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, etc. I was a little disappointed to see there was no quick link option for sharing my latest blog post with my other social networks. Beyond that it would be great to send a link via gmail and sms as well to someone in my phones contact list.
