Hello:

I am requesting a "Comment" function for "Posts" via the WordPress for Android app. Currently, there are only four graphic icons/functions on the bottom of each clicked "Post" - "Delete" (far left) and "View", "Share" and "Edit" (from middle to the far right).

I don't want to submit a NEW Comment on a published post via the "Mobile Site" or the "Full Site". I want to submit a NEW Comment on an published post via the WordPress for Android app. Currently, the only way I could submit a "Comment" is by replying to an already existing "Comment" via the "Comments" section of the Android app. Thank you.

I have tested this with both a WordPress.com and self hosted account with the same issue. My Authors cannot edit comments via the app (this is possible with the desktop version of WordPress). It seems only the Administrator can edit comments via apps. Via app, Authors can see their own posts, but not comments.

Why can't Authors access comments via the app to their own post? Is there some settings I need to configure to allow this? Thanks.

This app has some inexplicable behaviors which are maddening & totally illogical & counter intuitive. For example, if you write a post and try to save it to drafts or publish it & the upload fails, the app, as it should, saves the text you wrote. But if you do the same with a comment and the upload fails it doesn't save the text and the comment disappears. So why would anyone use this app to publish comments? You wouldn't & shouldn't.

If the app can save a post & not lose it if the upload fails how difficult would it be to do the same for comments that fail to publish?

Also, I just attempted to publish a post I’d written using the app. I was in 3G mode with three full bars & the upload failed twice (even in Draft). Then I tried switching to WiFi connection to see if a stronger connection would allow the upload to work. At that point I got a message saying an app was trying to share media files I have no idea why this happened), the entire Droid shut itself down, & when I turned it back on & went back into the WP app, the entire post I’d been writing went up in smoke.

I don’t understand why you can’t have an autosave feature that saves all posts, comments, etc. on the Droid's hard drive until they’re successfully uploaded. That way, if anything like either of these failures happened no data would be wiped out.

I rated the app 1 star & noted in my review the weaknesses of this app. Needs massive improvement.

That didn't work either... But (and I don't know why I didn't think of this before) I've sorted it by deleting my blog from the app on my phone and then re-adding it - well, it's removed the offending comments that refused to be deleted before, at least, which is fine for the moment! I guess the test will come when I *do* get a new comment and then try deleting it from the app.

Thanks so much for your help and suggestions!

Sorry but I must reopen this issue.

I use Wordpress on my personal site (on hosting) and I have the same issue too in articles' writing. So it's not related to comments. I have installed Wordpress on release 3.0.1 and specifically with italian release. If I comment the specific lines of encoding on my wp-config.php I could upload my articles using accents letters (but during the view I couldn't read it later), but if I let the original php-config.php with encoding set to UTF-8, every new post or comment, is truncated just before the accent letter.

So it's after my upgrade to Wordpress 3.0.1. In past times I just used Wordpress for Android successfully.

Any ideas?
